  11. Xlink Technology welcomes you to our NFS Client, NFS Server and
  12. NFS Printer for  Windows 95. This particular program is a DEMO with
  13. a twenty minute time limit. A precautionary message will be given at
  14. the end of the twenty minutes for your convenience.   If  problems are

  38. II.  Pre-Installation
  39.     
  40.         NFS95 DEMO can be received through either normal distribution 
  41.     channels, Xlink designated FTP sites, as well as by E-mail. 
  42.     Requirements for each pre-installation methods are list below.

  44.         1. FTP Download of NFS95 DEMO
  45.                 II.1.(a) Download NFS95 DEMO from FTP site.
  46.           .1.(b) Unzip the Zip file onto a diskette.
  47.  
  48.         2. E-Mail to your site of NFS95 DEMO
  49.         II.2.(a)  Email to your site.
  50.           .2.(b)  UUDecode the file.
  51.           .2.(c). Unzip the Zip file onto a diskette.

  53.         3. Receive NFS95 DEMO by Normal Distribution channels.
  54.         II.3.(a) Disk received ready to install.

  56. III. INSTALLATION 
  57.     
  58.     Note:   Once the diskette is prepared, insert it into drive A
  59.         Makes sure that the Microsoft Windows 95 TCP/IP-32 is 
  60.         running for your network.
  61.     PART.A
  62.     III.1(a) Click  Windows95  "Start" button.
  63.        .1(b) Click  "Run" button.
  64.        .1(c) Type  A:\SETUP.EXE
  65.        .1(d) Clink  "OK"
  66.  
  67.     III.2  REBOOT:  After PART A of the installation process is complete your PC should 
  68.         be given time to reboot. 
  69.     PART.B
  70.     III.3 Load "Control Panel".
  71.             .3 (b) Double click on "Network" icon.
  72.             .3 (c) In the list box, if you see "Xlink NFS for Windows 95", ignore the following steps and click               on cancel.
  73.             .3.(d) Click on "Add" button.
  74.             .3.(e) Select "Client"  item in "Select Network Component Type"  dialog box.
  75.             .3.(f) Click on "Add" button again.
  76.             .3.(g) Select "Xlink Technology, Inc." in "Manufacturers"  list box.
  77.             .3.(h) Click on "OK" button.

  79.     III.4. REBOOT:  After PART B of the installation process is complete reboot your PC again.

  81. IV.  Potential Installation Problems

  83.     Users will need to remove earlier Xlink NFS or other NFS applications.

  87.     V.1.(a) Enter user name and password.
  88.      .1.(b) Click "OK"
  89.      .1.(c) Enter Xlink NFS Client password
  90.      .1.(d) Click "OK"

  92. VI. HOW to Define Host
  93.  
  94.     In order to mount an NFS Drive you must define the host.

  96.     VI.1.(a)  Click icon "Xlink-NFS-95"
  97.       .1.(b)  Double-Click on "Hostedit" icon.
  98.       .1.(c)  Click  "New": Put in Host Name, Put in Host Address
  99.       .1.(e)  Click  "Next" for "Hostedit NFS Server", answer questions.
  100.       .1.(f)  Click  "Next" for "Authentication" & "NFS Lock" answer questions.
  101.       .1.(g)  Click  "Next" for "PCNFSD", answer questions as required.

  105. VII. How to mount an NFS drive
  106.  
  107.     There are three alternative methods for mounting the NFS Drive(s) 
  108.     Windows 95 Explore, Windows 95 Tools or using Xlink's NFS UI.

  110. 1. MOUNTING with EXPLORER
  111.  
  112.     VII.1.(a) Click the "Network Neighborhood" icon that appears on 
  113.           the desktop.  
  114.        .1.(b) Double Click   "Network Neighborhood", 
  115.        .1.(c) Double Click   "Entire Network."  
  116.         
  117.           The windows should display NFS servers entered into 
  118.           HOSTEDIT in the installation directory.  
  119.           
  120.        .1.(d) Double click on the specific NFS server you wish to mount 
  121.           a list of exported filesystems will be displayed.  
  122.        .1.(e) Select the file systems that you wish to mount.  
  123.        .1.(f) The password & user name entered in Xlink Logon Box will be used for                  
  124.           Authentication check, if not successful, an authentication 
  125.           Box will be prompted.  
  126.        .1.(g) Double click the exported file systems brings up a window 
  127.           displaying the contents of that file systems.

  129. 2. MOUNTING with TOOLS MENU of EXPLORER
  130.     
  131.     VII.2.(a) Select "Map Network Drive"
  132.        .2.(b) Select which drive to be redirected (mapped, mounted)
  133.        .2.(c) Type remote path to be mounted or select from history list.
  134.        .2.(d) Press "OK" button.
  135.  
  136.     Note1:  The password & user name entered in Xlink Logon Box will be 
  137.         used for Authentication check, if not successful, an 
  138.         authentication Box will be prompted.

  140.     Note2:  The syntax of remote path: \\server_name\mount_path.
  141.         you should use forward slash ('/') in mount path.  
  142.         The first forward slash may be omitted.

  144. 3. MOUNTING with XLink NFS 95 UI (using NFS 95 Help)
  145.     VII.3.(a)  Click the Windows 95 "Start" button
  146.        .3.(b)  Click the "Program" button
  147.        .3.(c)  Click the "Xlink-NFS 95"  icon
  148.        .3.(d)  Click the "NFS 95" icon
  149.        .3.(e)  Click the "Help" button
  150.        .3.(f)  Click the help file "Define Drive" button: follow instructions.      
  151.        .3.(g)  Click the "Define Drive" button: follow as instructed.    
  152.        .3.(h)  Click the green hot-linked "Mount Button":  follow instructions.
  153.        .3.(i)  Click the "Mount Button":  follow as instructed.

  155. VIII. How to mount an NFS Printer
  156.  
  157.         Under Windows 95, click the "Add Printer" icon  from the Printers
  158.         menu in the Windows 95 Print Manager. Select the "NETWORK PRINTER"
  159.         in the ADD PRINTER WIZARD box and then press "NEXT". The dialog box
  160.         will prompt you to enter the path and name of a printer in the Printer
  161.         field, or you can use "Browse" to select a printer from the Entire Network
  162.         field.

  164.         When the printer has been selected, click on OK. You may be prompted to
  165.         select a driver for the printer, if one is not currently installed on the
  166.         network. The connected printer will appear as the default printer on the
  167.         Print Manager Toolbar.
